An Open Letter to the Australian Government and the Blue Mountains Community
For the sake of the children and civilians, the war in Gaza must be stopped.
The Australian government refused to support a United Nations Resolution in October calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, an Israeli withdrawal and negotiations for a just and secure peace for all. The resolution was supported by the vast majority of nations at the UN. This is shameful and had to be reversed.
The letter below sponsored by the Blue Mountains Peace Collective had more than 120 signatories, individual and organisations, when published in the Blue Mountains Gazette on 6 December 2023
On 13 December the Australian Government voted in favour of an Immediate Ceasefire at the UN along with Canada, New Zealand, Japan and others who had stepped away from the US calls against a Ceasefire.

The Blue Mountains Peace Collective recognises and pays respect to Dharug and Gundungarra Traditional Owners of the Blue Mountains. They have a continuous, deep and never ceded connection to their Ngurra (Nura) or Country. We pay our respects to the Country and to Elders past, present and emerging while recognising the strength, capacity, resilience and resistance of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
